Alister Duminy

Principal Officer

Alister started out in his work life with engineering ambitions but, with a stronger motivation to help others develop their potential and skills, he moved into a personnel role before settling into training and development. Once he settled into this field, he moved in the Financial Services industry where he has been for the last 32 years.

He spent 20 of these years with Old Mutual, training various levels of leadership and staff in a range of roles and skills. He became involved with training retirement fund trustees and principal officers during the last 8 years of his career there before striking out on his own as an independent trustee trainer in 2005 – a role that he continues to thrive on today.

He has worked closely with numerous of the boards of trustees on their governance, strategic and fiduciary roles.

He has served as an independent trustee on a bargaining council fund for the last 8 years, where he chairs the board’s death benefits sub-committee. He also serves on the board of various trusts.
