After completing his articles, Shahied kick-started his career in Financial Services by joining Old Mutual Investments in 1987. Following his departure, he held senior executive and managerial positions at various smaller investment management companies.

He has extensive experience in investments, accounting, administration and project management.

Shahied also has 10 years-experience as a retirement fund trustee and 3 years-experience as a principal officer. He holds other committee positions in audit and performance management.

Shahied has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Natal and a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting from SA Technicon. He is a registered Business Accountant in Practice and a registered Tax Practitioner.
